Priorities
Protecting Fundamental Rights
As we currently are seeing gross Federal overreach taking place within our State, Tina will fight to protect the rights of all who preside in Illinois. We are seeing families torn apart, members of our immigrant community taken without due process, and many small businesses shutter as people are taken off the streets by ICE.
As voting rights are under attack nationally, Tina will work hard to protect and expand voting rights – Our democracy is stronger when more people have access to the ballot box. Tina will work to expand and improve access for all eligible voters, encourage broader participation in our voting process, and work to protect and ensure accurate election results by supporting and funding strong cybersecurity initiatives.
During this time of increased violence and hate speech, it is more important than ever for us to support and recommit to the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. Fundamental rights are just that – fundamental, essential and inherent to all, regardless of a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
Gun Violence Prevention
Gun violence is making our communities less safe and putting first responders at greater risk. Tina supports common-sense, evidence-based firearm laws that close loopholes and keep guns out of dangerous hands. She will defend Illinois’ ban on assault weapons, strengthen safe storage requirements to protect children, and expand awareness and use of firearm restraining orders to prevent tragedies before they happen. No child should have to fear gun violence taking place in their school, we must do better to ensure children's safety.
Education
Tina will advocate for clear pathways to success for every student—whether through college, career and technical education, or the trades. Our public schools need the resources to help students thrive and prepare for good-paying careers. With Illinois facing a shortage of skilled trade workers, including electricians, carpenters, and other skilled laborers, Tina will champion investments in vocational education, training, and apprenticeship programs to build the next generation of high-wage earners. She will also work to ensure every child has access to a world-class education in classrooms that expand opportunity while reducing the overreliance on property taxes.
Healthcare
The health of our community must remain one of our highest priorities. We need to strengthen health equity by ensuring everyone—regardless of income, background, or zip code—can access quality, affordable care. Tina is committed to lowering prescription drug costs, protecting access to important healthcare programs such as Medicaid, Get Covered Illinois, and the All Kids program, and investing in preventive care and community health initiatives that improve outcomes and reduce costs for families across our district.
Tina also believes in a person’s right to make decisions about their own reproductive health care, contraception, and maternity care. Tina will always support the right to choose and work to protect and expand access to reproductive health care, including continued public support of Planned Parenthood or similar organizations that make these services available to all.
Mental health resources are also vital, especially as more services are being cut, families being torn apart, we need to ensure people have not only physical health but also mental health support.
Environment
The current federal administration continues to roll back critical regulations that protect our lands, wildlife, clean water, clean air—and ultimately, the health of our nation. We must do everything we can at the state and local levels to uphold and strengthen these protections. We see the impacts of inaction all around us: increased flooding from heavy spring rains, damaging summer droughts, and record-breaking temperatures year after year. It’s time to act now and turn the tide in a positive direction for the health of our state, our nation, and our planet. We must protect not only our environment, but also the communities most affected by environmental challenges by advancing policies that promote clean energy, reduce pollution, and ensure environmental justice for those disproportionately impacted.
Fiscal Responsibility
As federal funding declines, Illinois must identify sustainable ways to support essential services while maintaining a balanced budget. Fiscal responsibility is key—our state must prioritize efficient spending and revenue strategies that avoid placing additional burdens on working families. At the same time, we need policies that address the growing gap for those who earn too much to qualify for assistance but still struggle with the rising costs of housing, food insecurity, and everyday living.
